We offer services for companies, organizations, groups, and schools
CETA believes that healthful social conditions can ensure that all members of society benefit from the same opportunities, and population health is also of critical importance to national prosperity and security
Who We Are
Creating Empowerment Through Autonomy (CETA) is a Georgia nonprofit organization established in 2003, whose mission is to mobilize people and resources to propel overall health and wellness. CETA’s innovative enrichment classes and services focus on the whole person and improving the quality of life. Most people know that taking care of ourselves by eating well, staying active, not smoking, getting the recommended screenings, and seeing a doctor when we are sick all influence our health. However, health and wellness are also determined in part by access to social and economic opportunities; the resources and support available in our homes, neighborhoods, and communities; the quality of our schooling; the safety of our workplaces; the cleanliness of our water, food, and air; and the nature of our social interactions and relationships.
Strategies & Plans
For the past seven years CETA Inc. has partnered with Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed and the Centers of Hope to implement “True Wealth” an after-school program for youth and adults that assists them with holistically addressing obesity which is the number one factor contributing to heart disease. The goal of this proposed program is to provide hands on instruction, interaction, and literature to influence best practices for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and to improve obesity by promoting healthy eating and active play. This year we have added the S.T.E.A.M. component to our curriculum infusing academia to enhance participant learning experience. S.T.E.A.M. is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.
